The design

The Cantus Rug

Cantus — Latin for song. And like any great composition, this hand-knotted rug has melody, rhythm, and resolution. The designer pattern builds across the surface with a musical logic: repeating motifs that create visual harmony, held together by a colour palette that knows exactly when to crescendo and when to rest.

This is one of Rugkari's finest hand-knotted pieces — the kind of rug that interior designers specify by name for their most important projects. It demands a room that can hold its intensity: a large living area, a formal reception space, a master suite designed for quiet theatre.

Hand-knotted in Bhadohi from Pure New Zealand Wool. The knotting density creates a surface that feels almost like velvet — dense, directional, and luminous when brushed in the direction of the pile. A true artisan investment.
