The Founder

Meet Amit Ratan — The Man Behind Rugkari

Amit Ratan grew up surrounded by looms, threads, and the rhythmic sound of weaving. Born and raised in Bhadohi — India's rug capital — he did not just inherit a craft. He inherited a calling.

From a young age, Amit spent time in weaving workshops, watching master artisans transform raw wool and cotton into breathtaking floor art. He learned to identify quality by touch, recognize patterns by design lineage, and understand the difference between a rug made quickly and a rug made right. What started as a childhood fascination became a lifelong mission — to build a brand that truly represents the artisans of Bhadohi, gives them the recognition they deserve, and brings their work to homes across India and the world.

Amit founded Rugkari with one clear vision: to bridge the gap between India's finest handmade rugs and the modern Indian consumer. For too long, the world's best handcrafted rugs were being exported while Indian homes settled for machine-made alternatives. Amit wanted to change that — to make premium, artisan-crafted rugs accessible, affordable, and celebrated within India.

"Every rug we make is a tribute to the weaver who made it. My job is to make sure their work reaches people who will truly value it." — Amit Ratan Amit personally oversees quality control, works directly with artisan families, and ensures that every Rugkari rug meets the highest standards before it reaches your home. His deep knowledge of materials, techniques, and design makes Rugkari a brand you can trust completely.

Behind every Rugkari rug is Amit's commitment to craft, community, and quality. When you bring a Rugkari rug home, you are not just buying a product — you are joining a story that began in the weaving villages of Bhadohi and continues with every thread.
