THE FOUNDER

Our Founders’ Story
We are Amit Kumar and Pratik Tiwari, born and raised in Mirzapur — a place where the sound of looms is part of daily life, and textile artistry is not just a skill, but a legacy. From childhood, we watched master artisans weave rugs that would soon travel across the world.
The surprising truth we discovered was this:
The same high-quality rugs made in Mirzapur were being exported in large quantities to Europe, the USA, and the Middle East, where they were praised as premium, luxury products. Yet in India, that exact level of quality, finish, and craftsmanship rarely reached customers.
This became our question and our purpose:
“If the world can experience the finest rugs from Mirzapur, why shouldn’t India enjoy the same standard in its own homes?”
Where RUGKARI Began
Our family production unit, established in 1980, has spent decades manufacturing for international buyers, export houses, hotels, and global retailers. For years, our craftsmanship was known abroad — but not recognised at home.
So we made a decision:
To bring the same export-grade rugs, made in the same factory, by the same artisans, using the same international standards, directly to Indian customers — without middlemen, inflated margins, or compromised quality.
This decision became RUGKARI.
Our Promise
We didn’t start RUGKARI to be the biggest.
We started it to be authentic, responsible, and proud of our roots.
“What the world calls luxury, we want India to call home.”
